UX Client Consultancy Project
Product Design | User Research
This UX client consultancy project was for the completion for the MA in UX Design program at Regent’s University London. This project was done with group members where we had to work with a real life client to help with a project within UX design. This project was done in the duration of 4 months.
The client we decided to work with was a startup in Hong Kong who is launching a new innovative two-sided platform concerning health and wellness to help busy Hong Kong professionals relieve stress, anxiety, and up-level their health. Our group successfully helped this client develop a strategy for their launch, as well as a hi-fi prototype for this launch next year.
User Research
To further understand the wellness industry and market in Hong Kong, secondary research and user interviews were conducted to better understand the goals, needs, and frustrations of busy professionals in Hong Kong . Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to ensure we captured a whole better understanding of this demographic.
With user interviews, 16 individuals based in Hong Kong were interviewed to get a complete understanding of their needs from an online wellness platform. We used affinity mapping to organize and pinpoint similarities and characteristics of these users.
After combining information from the secondary research and user interviews, three types of users were identified and user personas, empathy maps, and user journey maps were created to reflect their concerns and needs. Along with this, user stories and problem statements were created to identify what functions and features this platform would need to help solve their concerns.

Ideation
With these three personas now identified, our group then brainstormed and use different exercises to produce many different solutions, features, and functionalities that this platform could have to effectively connect to these users.
The exercises used for this process were How Might We’s and Crazy Eights.
Wireframes and Prototypes
After identifying solutions that best suited these personas from these exercises, various wireframes were then sketched out to determine the layout that would best fit these user needs.
Once the wireframes were solidified, a low fidelity prototype was designed to present to the client that proposed a simplified visual and layout of what the online platform could look like based on the user needs identified. For the prototypes, Figma was used to create them.
High Fidelity Prototypes
After receiving feedback from the client, we created the first version of the high fidelity prototypes that were functional and presented what the online platform would accurately look like. This was sent over to the client for feedback and would be used for us to do user testing.
Provided here are a few screens from the prototype presenting a user’s account, questionnaire, and more that would be displayed to members.
Shown below are the different log ins for members and practitioners.
These were the two prototypes created for user testing that were tested on the different personas to gather feedback and insights. Shown here below are the two prototypes, one for users and one for members.
User Testing
We conducted user testing for this prototype with 7 participants remotely, where we had differentiating tasks for these user types. From this testing, we used affinity mapping again and identified what revisions needed to be made connect with the targeted users.
After this, revisions were made including adding more screens to to the hi-fi prototype based on the client’s and user testing feedback to produce a more effective and functional prototype of the platform for the company’s launch.
Final Handoff to the Client and Developers
Now with the prototype and assets completed, they were sent over and presented to the client. For the last step of this project, PRDs were created to give to the developer team for them to start building the platform.
Reflection and Key Insights
This was my first UX and product design project where I was involved in a end-to-end design process and I was able to work on all facets of design thinking from user research to developing a hi-fi prototype for an upcoming online wellness platform. From this, I learned and gained many insights on how to effectively build a platform that meets both the user and business needs.
Communicating User Needs - Learning how to effectively communicate user needs and why they are needed and important to the client and how these align with business needs and goals
Designing for Users - This was the first time I handled user interviews and user testing which are truly important to get in depth insights on user needs and clarification on what they need from a prototype. Through this, we learned that functions and features are not as intuitive as first seen and that testing and interview help identify how to make a project stronger and more seamless.
