Vero
Digital Marketing | UX Research | Product Design
In another project completed during my Master’s course, we created a company promoting a service or product of our choice. Research had to be done to develop a brand, a persona, current market insights, competitor analysis, and visuals of a website that aligned to the target audience. Please note for the website that a working prototype was not required, only visuals needed to be presented.
The Concept Behind Vero
We wanted to come up with a company that would help individuals struggling with the NHS and long waits for appointments. Our group decided to focus on teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to aid them with challenging environments. Thus Vero was created, which uses virtual reality (VR) technology to simulate environments that are challenging to encounter for children with ASD and help them develop tactics and familiarity to encounter these environments.
The Problem
For ASD adolescent patients who need assistance from the NHS, there is a plan that they provide called the Education, Health, and Care plan. This plan aids young individuals up to age 25 with special education needs with support. Though, there is a 20-week limit for these plans to be assigned to patients which delays getting the help they need.
The NHS announced their NHS Long Term Fund plan which placed 40 million pounds to help parents and those with ASD, though there are still many delays.
Current Market
VR technology does help simulate environments that are challenging for young adolescents with ASD to encounter. It can be used to help manage phobias and make them feel comfortable in real-life environments, and comfortability in these challenging environments can help with public speaking, navigating crowds, and achieve economic and social independence.
There are two competitors in the market providing assistance to young adolescents using VR.
Floreo, a US based company, provides lessons online through iPhone and VR.
Blue Room, a VR service using cognitive behaviour therapy provided by the NHS, only has in person treatment in Newcastle.
How Vero Can Help
Vero helps to aim this need by providing online lessons for young adolescents with ASD using VR at home to help those in the UK waiting for NHS services be able to find support immediately. These lessons would be provided through a monthly subscription service for either individuals or clinics supporting these needs. Individual subscription plans would include the VR headset.

Vero’s Targeted Audience
A persona was developed to pinpoint the target audience for users who would be visiting the Vero site.
This persona is The Wrights, who are parents of a young adolescent with ASD looking to help find support as wait times from the NHS are too long.
Customer Centricity and Web Design
For Vero’s website design, it had be clean and inviting, easy to navigate, seen as informative, and be a design that feels trustworthy to parents looking into this service. These web design details also was seen on other sites concerning special educational needs and support. Another design element was to include designs that aligned for those on the spectrum.
We also wanted to ensure that the customers can easily use the site, choose a pricing plan, and purchase. Through the AIDA model, we made sure that we focused on the experience for our customers to stay on the site and want to join Vero through purchasing the service.
Focal points like testimonies to provide credibility, highlighting consumer reviews to engage potential customers, and CTA buttons to keep users engaged
Vero Website Visuals
We designed this website for Vero that completely reflected the layout and features for this target demographic. They can easily find informational content, how Vero works, testimonials, service plans, and inquiry form to help them determine if Vero is right for them and their child.
As noted previously, we were not required to create a prototype and only provide visuals of how this website would look like.
